System administrators have “out of the box” browser-based access to all of the captured information and data, via a familiar web-based interface offering centralised management of every user and device within your workplace. It presents real-time information, including system activity and status updates, along with trends and statistics from past activity, such as number of pages printed and environmental impact measures.
The built-in reporting tool offers more than 80 one-click reports, which can be viewed online, printed or exported – it can be as simple or as advanced as you need it to be. These reports address everything from detailed page logs to summaries by user, department, device or environmental impact. Administrators can also create adhoc reports by applying specific filters, and if required the reports can be emailed to individual employees.
An advanced scripting feature supports businesses in fine-tuning and defining their print policies by automating the whole process. As part of this, you can eliminate waste and change user behaviour by automatically routing large jobs to any detected high-volume printers and discouraging the unnecessary printing of emails via pop-up print policy warnings, for example.
Perfect for businesses encouraging employees to print as responsibly as possible, PaperCut MF features an innovative print archiving tool. This lets approved administrators browse and review all print activity within their environment, which helps businesses to identify situations where printing isn’t necessarily essential and enables them to make cutbacks as a result.
Mobile and BYOD printing
PaperCut MF allows users to print from any BYOD device including laptops, tablets or smartphones running iOS, Android, Chrome OS, Microsoft Windows or macOS. Regardless of operating system, location, file format or brand of printer, PaperCut supports it. This is particularly beneficial for businesses with mobile and remote employees who work with different platforms and devices.
Secure print release
At its simplest level, user authentication can be completed by entering a network username and password via an onscreen keyboard. This can be taken a step further with ID card authentication, if required. Card types include magnetic stripe, proximity (HID, Mifare & Legic) and bar codes, and PaperCut supports many brands of USB card readers including RFIdeas, Elatec and OmniKey.
Find-Me offers a roaming print solution where users print to a single queue and jobs are “pulled” to any MFP or printer integrated with the PaperCut solution. It’s also known as “Pull Printing” and it means that jobs follow the user to any printer. It solves the problem of needing to choose a printer from a long list by asking the print job to find the user, rather than the user finding the printer!
PaperCut MF provides genuine cross-platform support and can operate in most standard network environments. These include those that use Active Directory, Novell eDirectory, RM or LDAP for authentication, with options to utilise Windows, Novell Open Enterprise (OES), Mac and Linux print servers and full pop-up messaging support on Windows, Mac, Linux and Unix.
